Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, I was first introduced to the physical practice of yoga at age four, by my grandmother, who began her practice at age twenty as a Vivekananda disciple. As I progressed she introduced vipasana and the meditation teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, which felt familiar to me. I lost interest in yoga as a teenager, but came back to practice in my early twenties, after a spiritual realization in Mala Noche, a waterfall in Costa Rica. I rooted deeply into yoga and Zen Buddhist teachings. Two years later I opened a successful yoga studio, Ananda Yoga, in Coquitlam, a suburb of Vancouver. A few years later I optioned to trade the business for life in Nosara, Costa Rica, where my family has been vacationing to since 1992. My focus is on gentle guidance and loving touch extending from my fascination with the body as an intelligent instrument of spiritual and creative expression, holding space to witness and guide clients through the wonders of movement, self-awareness, expression and connection to the Universal. My belief in the magic of touch as a means of healing and as a conduit for energy informs my teaching style, which relies strongly on imagery, humor and hands-on interaction. I continue to learn and grow by practicing and studying mind/body/spirit disciplines and techniques. I enjoy creating, listening, promoting health and consciousness, pursuing holistic wisdom and observing developments. Other passions include riding horses, my dogs, playing piano, music, dance, art, travel, reading, self study, meditation, toning and chanting.
