About your spanish tutor
I am a native Spanish teacher from Spain based in the UK with over 10 years of teaching experience across secondary schools, further education, and private tuition. I hold a Certificate in Education and Training (CET), CELTA (Cambridge), and ELE (Cervantes Institute accredited), along with an Enhanced DBS and Level 2 qualifications in Special Educational Needs and Autism. I specialise in supporting GCSE Spanish students to improve confidence, speaking, listening, reading, writing, and exam performance. I also teach adult learners on a flexible, non-academic basis, focusing on conversational Spanish, travel, and workplace communication. My experience includes working with learners of different abilities, including SEND students, which has helped me develop a patient, structured, and supportive teaching approach. I aim to create a positive and encouraging environment where students build confidence and make steady progress. My approach is structured but friendly, with a strong focus on progress, confidence, and practical use of the language. Outside teaching, I am also a published writer of bilingual poetry, which brings creativity and cultural depth into my lessons. I would be happy to support you or your child in learning Spanish in a clear, effective, and enjoyable way.

Spanish concepts taught by Montserrat
The Student and Tutor practiced Spanish past tenses through biographical readings and discussions about Frida Kahlo's life, including a speaking exercise. The session then shifted to learning about Francisco Franco's dictatorship in Spain, focusing on historical facts and societal rules of the period, along with related vocabulary. For homework, the Student is tasked with reading a worksheet about Franco and preparing a summary presentation using the imperfect tense, due for the next session which is scheduled for the 29th.

Student and Tutor focused on foundational Spanish grammar and vocabulary. They practiced reading and discussed the irregular verb "gustar" and similar verbs, exploring their conjugation patterns and the use of the contracted article "al." The Student was given homework to practice sentence construction with these verbs and to write about cultural and personal preferences.
