How to reschedule or cancel a lesson as a tutor

Occasionally, you may need to reschedule or cancel a lesson due to unforeseen circumstances. It’s important to manage your lesson schedule professionally and communicate effectively with your students to minimize disruptions. This article will guide you through the process of rescheduling or cancelling a lesson on Wiingy.

How to reschedule a lesson

Rescheduling a lesson can help avoid a cancellation and ensure the student’s learning schedule remains uninterrupted. Follow these steps to reschedule a lesson:

  1. Contact the student: Reach out to the student via the Wiingy Tutor Portal or Wiingy Chat to discuss a new time for the lesson.
  2. Update your calendar: Use the Calendar feature in the Wiingy Tutor Portal to select a new time slot for the lesson.
  3. Confirm the new schedule: Ensure that both you and the student confirm the rescheduled time to avoid confusion.

How to cancel a lesson

If you need to cancel a lesson, follow these steps:

  1. Notify the student in advance: Always inform the student as soon as possible if you need to cancel a lesson. Try to provide a minimum of 4 hours’ notice.
  2. Update your calendar: Make sure to mark the lesson as cancelled in your Wiingy calendar by clicking on the icon in the top right corner of the calendar screen to delete the event.
  3. Offer rescheduling: If possible, propose an alternative time to reschedule the lesson.

Impact of cancellations on earnings

Cancelled lessons may affect your earnings, depending on the circumstances:

  • No payment for cancelled lessons: Generally, cancelled regular lessons do not result in payment. However, if it’s a demo lesson, cancellation may lead to payment under specific conditions, such as Late Night Payout (LNP) for demo lessons cancelled after midnight.
  • Frequent cancellations: Repeated cancellations may affect your performance metrics and future demo lesson assignments.

Late Night Payout (LNP)

If a demo lesson is scheduled between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM in your time zone, and the demo is cancelled after 12:00 AM, you will receive a Late Night Payout (LNP). This is a special payment to compensate tutors for taking on late-night demo lessons.

How to handle no-shows

If a student does not attend a regular lesson, there is no compensation for the missed session.

However, tutors are encouraged to remind students about the value of time and communicate with them through Wiingy Chat.

If a student repeatedly misses lessons without prior communication, please report the issue to Wiingy support for further action. For more on how to contact Wiingy support, see Contact Wiingy support.
