Ishmael Patterson - Math tutor

Hello, I’m Ishmael Patterson, a dedicated math tutor with a Master’s degree in Accounting and over 20 years of teaching experience. My passion lies in making math engaging, relatable, and accessible for students of all levels, from middle school to high school. I believe that with the right guidance, anyone can succeed in math—it’s all about having a patient, supportive mentor to light the way. What sets me apart is my ability to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment. I understand that students often feel frustrated or overwhelmed when tackling challenging topics, and I’m here to change that mindset. Mistakes are an essential part of learning, and I encourage students to view them as stepping stones to success. Through patience and positive reinforcement, I help students overcome their fears and embrace the problem-solving process. My sessions are designed to go beyond simply solving equations. I incorporate practical applications to show students how math connects to their everyday lives and future goals. For example, understanding interest rates, budgeting, or analyzing data trends becomes far more engaging when linked to real-world scenarios. By making math relevant, I aim to spark curiosity and a lasting appreciation for the subject. If you’re ready to take your math skills to the next level, I’d be honored to guide you on your journey. Together, we can transform challenges into accomplishments and make math a subject you not only understand but truly enjoy. Let’s work together to unlock your full potential and pave the way for success.

Maria Simunic - English tutor

’’Hello! My name is Sol, and I am an English teacher currently completing my bachelor’s degree Sociology. I have worked as a teacher since I was sixteen years old, and I am passionate about it. I have studied and applied many methods of teaching and am confident teaching almost any kind of student. I am always perfecting not only my language proficiency but also the educational theories I follow. I have worked with kids, teenagers, and adults from all over the world, starting in Latin America and all the way to South Korea and China, so language really isn’t a barrier for me! I was also part of two different organizations, one is a sociolegal clinic that works with migrants, focused on fighting for their rights, helping them with everything regarding documentation and legal work, but also with trying to raise awareness about their specific struggles. I worked mostly with women and the impact that the covid-19 pandemic had on them. The other organization I am part of is called ‘’Soy NosotrasI’m looking forward to meeting you and learning together. and it is a barrial (neighbourhood) organization that works with local women of the community to seek concrete solutions to everyday problems that might not seem to be directly to connected with gender at first sight but, with a deeper insight, one can see how every different oppression intersects with one another, therefore the need to fight for an intersectional feminism. I am a volunteer at these organizations. I have participated as an assistant-professor in three different courses: Classic Sociological Theory, Statistics and Feminist Philosophy. I work well with students and find teaching to be one of the most fulfilling roles I’ve had.
