Understanding trial lesson status: what a tutor needs to know

Tracking the status of your trial (demo) lessons ensures that you stay updated on your scheduled demos and take timely action. The Wiingy Tutor App and Wiingy Tutor Portal (tutors.wiingy.com) display different demo statuses, each reflecting the stage of your demo request.

Trial lesson (demo) statuses on the Wiingy Tutor App

On the Wiingy Tutor App, trial lessons go through four key statuses:

  • New: A student has requested a trial lesson.
What to do: Accept or decline the request based on your availability and subject expertise. Learn more in How to accept a trial lesson request.
  • Accepted: You have accepted the demo request and completed the necessary checklist.
What to do: Wait for the demo to be allotted based on performance metrics.
  • Allotted: The demo has been assigned to you based on Wiingy’s demo allotment criteria.
What to do: Prepare for the lesson and check details in the Wiingy Calendar. See Preparing for your first trial lesson.
  • Missed: You did not accept or have declined the demo request within the allowed response time. It has now moved to the Missed Demos section.

Trial lesson (demo) sections on the Wiingy Tutor Portal

On the Wiingy Tutor Portal, demo lessons are categorized into different sections:

  • All Demos: View all trial lessons, including past and upcoming sessions.
  • Upcoming Demos: Shows only allotted demo lessons that are scheduled.
  • LNP (Late Night Payout) Demos: Displays canceled demos that qualify for compensation.
  • Instant Demos: Urgent on-demand trial lessons that require immediate response.
  • TNS (Tutor No Show) Demos: Shows demo lessons that the tutor failed to attend without providing prior notice. TNS demos impact tutor performance and may affect future demo allotments. See Tutor no-show policy.

Troubleshooting status issues

If you experience issues with trial lesson statuses:

  • Check app permissions: Ensure notifications are enabled for the Wiingy app in your phone settings. Learn more in Manage notifications.
  • Reinstall the app: If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Wiingy Tutor App.
  • Ensure a stable internet connection: Poor network conditions may prevent status updates.
  • Complete the Wiingy training guide: Some features may be unavailable if you haven’t completed the Wiingy Tutor Training Guide.
