How to decline trial lesson requests efficiently

Sometimes, you may need to decline a trial lesson request due to scheduling conflicts or personal availability. Declining requests properly ensures a smooth experience for both tutors and students while maintaining a high response rate.

When to decline a trial lesson request

You should decline a trial lesson request if:

  • You are unavailable during the scheduled time and cannot reschedule.
  • The subject requested does not match your expertise.
  • There is a conflict with your existing tutoring schedule.

If you frequently need to decline trial lessons, consider adjusting your availability. Learn more in Manage notifications.

How to decline a trial lesson request

Declining a trial lesson request is simple and must be done promptly to avoid a negative impact on your profile.

On the Wiingy Mobile App:

  • Open the Wiingy Tutor App on your Android or iOS device.
  • Navigate to the Demo section.
  • Locate the request you wish to decline.
  • Select Decline and choose the appropriate reason.

Note: Declining a request must be done through the Wiingy Mobile App. Wiingy does not send notifications or allow request management through the tutor portal.

Impact of declining trial lessons

While declining a request occasionally is acceptable, frequent declines may:

  • Lower your priority for future demo lesson assignments.
  • Impact your response rate and tutor performance score.
  • Delay student placements, affecting their learning experience.

To maximize your opportunities, keep your availability updated and respond to trial requests as soon as possible. Learn about How trial lessons are assigned.

Troubleshooting declining issues

If you encounter issues while declining a trial lesson:

  • Check app permissions: Ensure notifications are enabled in your phone settings.
  • Reinstall the app: If options do not appear, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Wiingy Tutor App.
  • Ensure proper network connection: Poor internet can prevent request updates.
