Aegean Au - Violin lessons in Surprise
Hi! I’m Aegean :)
I come from a musical family, so classical music has always been a part of my life. I began playing the violin at the age of 5. I later studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), where I received comprehensive training in violin performance, theory, and orchestral playing.
During my time in Hong Kong, I participated in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival as a solo violinist, where I was awarded 2nd Place. I also had the privilege to serve as the principal violinist in all the schools I’ve attended, performing in orchestras that took part in international music festivals around the world, including at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
I started tutoring violin when I was 16, both in and outside of school, and have since explored other areas of education, such as outdoor education and SEN language tutoring. Through all these experiences, I’ve realised that my true passion lies in what I began with - this 4 stringed instrument I’ve had a lifelong love-hate relationship with. It’s intimate, challenging, and endlessly rewarding, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I find teaching incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about playing the right notes and rhythms, but about building connections, sharing joy, and helping each student grow at their own pace to become the best version of themselves. So whether you’re picking up the violin for fun or aiming for your next ABRSM exam, I’ve got you! 🎶
Music is cathartic. It’s a language of emotion, one that connects us, heals us, and reminds us that we’re alive. (Sorry that was a bit cheesy)
