About the tutor

Hello! I'm Faith Davis, a music tutor specializing in teaching the violin. With a Bachelors's degree in Music Education, I believe in a hands-on approach to learning, where students actively engage in making music. My teaching philosophy revolves around making learning fun and interactive, tailoring my lessons to each student's level and learning style. I am a classically trained multi-instrumentalist with a passion for teaching. I have been teaching for 13+ years. As a previous student of traditional music lessons, I like to take an innovative approach to teaching, implementing games and creative learning tools. I have 10+ years of experience in classical and contemporary performance, as well as violin improvisation. I still currently enjoy gigging and creating clips of my playing the violin on social media. Three things my students would say about me? I'm extremely patient, caring and determined. It's not about how fast we get there, but that we get there the right way! I believe that learning an instrument should be fun and still include the fundamentals of music. I believe every student has a unique way of expressing themselves and music is the perfect way to hone that expression!

Teaching methodology

As a Violin tutor, I specialize in teaching students of all levels, whether they are in school, college, adults, or professionals. My teaching style is creative, interactive, and concept-focused, with a detailed approach to problem-solving. I have researched music education techniques to integrate theory and practice effectively. I also include improvisation and composition exercises to stimulate creativity in my students. Furthermore, I tailor learning activities to match the preferred music genre of each individual student. The combination of games and music theory in my teaching encourages steady progress. It provides a balanced approach that nurtures both the technical and intellectual aspects of learning the violin. I want my students to not only be proficient players but also well-rounded musicians who understand the art form on a deeper level. This thoughtful, patient, and multifaceted approach has proven successful in helping my students build lasting skills and a lifelong appreciation for music. I strive to cultivate both a love for the violin and a comprehensive understanding of music that will stay with my students long after they’ve left the classroom.
