About
Pearl began her piano education at age 5 and violin studies at age 6. She first started in group lessons, then had private lessons with Dr. Heewon Kwon, piano professor at the Colburn Music Conservatory in Los Angeles, California. Her violin studies were similar as she also started with the Suzuki Method in a group setting. Then she took private lessons with Michael Ferril, a Juilliard graduate, and then studied at UCLA under Professor Guillaume Sutre. Pearl has taught students as young as 4 to adults in their fifties and clients who have special needs. Pearl finds teaching rewarding and fulfilling, which inspires her to continue to improve herself as an educator and also author a piano method book called Shapelies Music for the young beginner student. Pearl also plays in orchestras and weddings.
In addition to teaching music, Pearl has taught English online to students in Asia and math to students in Los Angeles.
As you can see, Pearl loves learning, which is a great asset for a teacher to have.

Teaching methodology
Pearl offers tutoring sessions for music and elementary math. She makes sure lesson plans are specific to the client's needs and engaging. She takes time to get to know the student and then we have a monthly assessment to see how far along the learner has come.
For piano lessons, she will have two webcams. One will show a top-down view of the piano and the other will show her face. There will also be screen sharing throughout the session.
