Andrew - Know your tutor
I'm Andrew, a second-year bachelor's of science student at Queen's University. I have over 3 years of tutoring experience with various high school students across various subjects, including math, physics, chemistry, and biology. For mathematics, I can tutor a wide range of subjects like calculus, algebra, geometry, and more. I initially found my passion for teaching through peer tutoring programs in highschool, and since then I've continued to cultivate my love for teaching through different programs offered in my university. As a recent high school graduate, I totally understand the academic pressure and difficulties you may encounter, so I will do my very best to make sure your needs are met! A lot of strategies I find work best for students is regular review, especially with practice assignments/quizzes, and I've also found going over homework problems together is a great way to learn too. I've always had a very positive experience with all the students I help tutor, and I'm always very friendly and approachable. Look forward to working with you!

Class overview
My approach to teaching is based on identifying key concepts/ideas that you may struggle with, and further emphasizing/working on those areas through additional practice and review. With a focus on adaptive learning, I typically do one-on-one virtual sessions through Zoom (or other preferred meeting software). I try and cater lessons towards a learning style that works best for you (i.e. visual, auditory, or reading/writing). I use online interactive whiteboards and various software (i.e. graphing calculators/programs like desmos) to try and help students better visualize and understand concepts. I also develop a learning plan/schedule and provide supplementary materials (i.e. practice problems, interactive videos, etc.) to help students really hone in on subject material to gain a better understanding, ultimately leading to improved results in class.
