Nan Zhang - Math tutor

Hello! My name is Nan Zhang, and I am a dedicated and enthusiastic mathematics educator with two years of fulfilling experience in teaching. It is a pleasure to have this opportunity to introduce myself and share my teaching philosophy. Over the past two years, I have developed a comprehensive and adaptable teaching skillset. My experience is not limited to a single grade or course type; I have taught a diverse range of subjects, from foundational mathematics and pre-algebra for middle school students to more advanced topics like Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Calculus for high school students. This versatility allows me to understand the vertical progression of mathematical concepts and to tailor my instruction to build a strong, interconnected understanding for each learner, whether the goal is to solidify basics, prepare for standardized tests, or explore advanced material. I firmly believe that a positive and supportive relationship is the cornerstone of effective learning. My teaching style is highly interactive and centered on collaborative exploration. I truly enjoy working with students to unravel problems, rather than simply lecturing at them. Ultimately, my goal is to empower each student to reach the level of achievement they desire. I am a strong believer in personalized education. I take the time to understand each student's unique learning style, pace, and aspirations. I am passionate about mathematics and equally passionate about sharing that excitement with my students. I am eager to bring my skills, experience, and positive energy to help your child not only improve their grades but also develop a genuine appreciation for the subject. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Emmanuel Asante - Math tutor

Hello! I’m Emmanuel Asante, a passionate and experienced math tutor committed to helping students at all levels, from elementary school to high school, gain a strong understanding of math. With a deep expertise in various fields, including elementary math, middle school math, high school math, probability, statistics, trigonometry, and AP Calculus, I offer personalized tutoring services designed to unlock your full potential in mathematics. Mathematics often feels intimidating to many students, but I’m here to change that perception. I firmly believe that math can be enjoyable, accessible, and, most importantly, a tool that helps us understand the world around us. My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you the “how-to’s” of solving problems but to show you the real-world applications and beauty of math. Whether you're tackling basic arithmetic, learning the fundamentals of algebra, or preparing for the rigor of AP Calculus, I work to ensure that you not only grasp the material but also appreciate its significance. One of the core elements of my teaching philosophy is to create a supportive, welcoming, and dynamic learning environment where students feel confident and encouraged. I believe that every student learns at their own pace, and my approach is tailored to meet individual needs. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to learning math, which is why I place a strong emphasis on adapting my teaching methods to suit your learning style. I understand that students often have different strengths and challenges, and I strive to meet each student where they are.

Maria Simunic - English tutor

’’Hello! My name is Sol, and I am an English teacher currently completing my bachelor’s degree Sociology. I have worked as a teacher since I was sixteen years old, and I am passionate about it. I have studied and applied many methods of teaching and am confident teaching almost any kind of student. I am always perfecting not only my language proficiency but also the educational theories I follow. I have worked with kids, teenagers, and adults from all over the world, starting in Latin America and all the way to South Korea and China, so language really isn’t a barrier for me! I was also part of two different organizations, one is a sociolegal clinic that works with migrants, focused on fighting for their rights, helping them with everything regarding documentation and legal work, but also with trying to raise awareness about their specific struggles. I worked mostly with women and the impact that the covid-19 pandemic had on them. The other organization I am part of is called ‘’Soy NosotrasI’m looking forward to meeting you and learning together. and it is a barrial (neighbourhood) organization that works with local women of the community to seek concrete solutions to everyday problems that might not seem to be directly to connected with gender at first sight but, with a deeper insight, one can see how every different oppression intersects with one another, therefore the need to fight for an intersectional feminism. I am a volunteer at these organizations. I have participated as an assistant-professor in three different courses: Classic Sociological Theory, Statistics and Feminist Philosophy. I work well with students and find teaching to be one of the most fulfilling roles I’ve had.
