What is the AP Scholar Award?

The AP Scholar Award is an academic distinction awarded to high school students who have demonstrated exceptional college-level achievement through their performance on multiple AP Exams.

The College Board, the organization that administers the AP program, recognizes students with three or more qualifying AP scores on a single year’s exams or with four or more qualifying AP scores across multiple years.

How to earn the AP Scholar Award?

Students must score an average of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and score a 3 or higher on at least 4 AP exams.

They can then submit their scores to the College Board to be evaluated for the award. Students can also earn the AP Scholar Award over multiple years, as long as they meet the cumulative requirements.

Levels of the AP Scholar Award

There are four levels of the AP Scholar Award, each with its own unique criteria:

When are students informed about the award?

Students are informed about the AP Scholar Award in mid-July after all AP scores have been released. Students will receive an email notification if they have earned an award, and they can also view their awards on their AP score report.
