AP Physics 1 multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

Unlike the FRQs, no official resources are given for MCQs available for any AP exams.

But you can access some official sample questions for the AP Physics 1 exam. This document contains 6 MCQs along with answers.

This document contains questions for both AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2. AP Physics 1 questions start from page 5 and continue till page 12.

AP Physics 1 exam

The AP Physics 1 exam will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 12 pm (local time). The AP exams are generally held in the month of May over the duration of two weeks.

The AP Physics 1 exam is 3 hours long and is divided into two sections.

  • Section A: Multiple-choice questions
  • Section B: Free-response questions

Section A contains 50 multiple-choice questions which are again divided into 2 parts. Part A has 45 questions and Part B has 5 questions. This section is 1 hour and 30 minutes long and weighs 50% of the total score.

Section B contains 6 free-response questions divided into 3 parts depending on the question types. 1 question is related to experimental design, 1 question is related to qualitative/quantitative translation, and 3 short-type questions. This section is 1 hour and 30 minutes long and weighs 50% of the total score.
