What is an AP Perfect Score?

An AP Perfect Score is the highest possible score on an Advanced Placement (AP) exam. It is a score of 5 on all sections of the AP exam, including the multiple choice questions, free response questions, and performance tasks.

How is an AP Perfect Score different from a 5?

The main difference between a perfect score and a 5 on an AP exam is that a perfect score is the highest possible score, meaning that the student answered every question correctly, while a 5 indicates that the student answered most of the questions correctly.

A student who earns a perfect score on an AP exam will also receive a 5, but the perfect score itself is not reported to colleges.

An AP Perfect score is a very difficult achievement, and only a small percentage of students earn AP Perfect Scores each year.

The College Board released a document of the AP perfect score in 2013, but they haven’t created any similar documentary for any year since.

AP Perfect Score

  • A perfect score on an AP exam is the highest possible score, meaning that the student answered all the questions correctly.
  • When a student earns a perfect score on an AP exam, the College Board does not report the exact score to the student or their college. Instead, the student simply receives a score of 5. However, the College Board does send a letter to the student in the fall.

Score of 5

  • A score of 5 is also considered a high score, indicating that the student has demonstrated mastery of the subject.
  • A score of 5 on an AP exam is still a very impressive achievement. Students who earn this score have demonstrated a high level of understanding of the subject matter and are likely to be successful in college-level courses.

Summary

Perfect scores on AP exams are a super-rare occurrence. A perfect score indicates that the student answered every question correctly, and a score of 5 indicates that the student answered most of the questions correctly.

The perfect score is such a rare occurrence that the College Board sends a letter to the students.
