In my role as a music tutor specializing in music production, composition, and various music-related subjects, I focus on a progressive, engaging, and creative teaching style. Through tailored instruction, I integrate music theory, ear training, and practical skills using a variety of tech tools such as ear training software, recording apps, and looping software. I cater to a small audience of less than 10 students, primarily teaching music to kids and beginners. I follow a curriculum that aligns with international educational standards such as the IB program, A-Levels, or the Common Core State Standards. By incorporating sight-reading, digital audio workstations, and music mixing into my lessons, I ensure a comprehensive learning experience. I also emphasize live performance, DJ skills, and music theory, fostering a well-rounded musical education. My approach includes personalized feedback, performance assessments, and the use of vocal health apps, vocal warm-up apps, and breathing support apps to enhance students' vocal technique and creativity. By offering a blend of theory and practical application, I aim to inspire a love for music and empower students to explore their musical talents with confidence and enthusiasm.

Guitar

I have a rich and diverse background in music, particularly in guitar, spanning several decades. My journey began in earnest when I graduated in 1992 from my first college as a guitar major. During my studies, I was fortunate to immerse myself in multiple musical genres, including rock, classical, and jazz, which has given me a versatile approach to the instrument. One of the highlights of my academic experience was studying under the legendary Jorje Morel, who was a direct student of the iconic classical guitarist Andrés Segovia. This exposure to Segovia’s lineage allowed me to deeply explore classical guitar techniques, discipline, and musicality, and it left an indelible mark on my playing. In addition to my classical training, I also had the privilege of studying with Eddie Ojeda, the rock guitarist known for his work with the popular 80s heavy metal band Twisted Sister. As a teenager, Eddie helped shape my understanding of rock guitar, imparting key techniques and performance skills that were fundamental to my development. His guidance allowed me to blend the intensity and expressiveness of rock with the finesse and technicality of classical guitar. Throughout my career, I’ve continued to stay active in the guitar community by attending numerous guitar workshops and festivals, where I’ve had the opportunity to both learn from and collaborate with other musicians. These experiences have been invaluable in broadening my knowledge, as well as keeping me up-to-date with evolving trends and techniques in the guitar world. For the past 35 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to both teach and perform, which has been incredibly fulfilling. Teaching has allowed me to share my knowledge and passion with students of all levels.
