Guitar

I mostly just teach from books. I ask the student to buy a book and work through the exercises in the book. Some people find this to be a boring method but the reality is that when you are an absolute beginner you really need to focus on the absolute basics and nail your technique for things like fingering, positioning your hands, basic rhythm, learning which positions correspond to which notes, memorising chord shapes etc. Once you progress beyond this stage you can start looking at what songs and things you want to learn but if you're a beginner it tends to be a case of hammering away at basic exercises until you get to the point where you have a well developed enough technique that will allow you to play the things you really want to play. I'm afraid I don't really have any interesting resources or tools or techniques. I've actually never taught online before so don't really know how to do it.

Singing

I teach students of all ages—teens, adults, and younger learners—and my style blends clear structure with playful, gamified systems that keep lessons engaging and motivating. Some of these systems include lesson notes to track progress, badges students can earn, XP points, reward systems, and clear goals with milestones. By tailoring songs and warmups to each student’s unique needs and interests, I make sure practice feels personal, relevant, and enjoyable. Alongside these fun elements, I emphasize confidence building, character development, and healthy vocal technique—especially breath support. I also specialize in working with students who have unique needs, including autism, visual impairments, and mobility challenges, always focusing on emotional support and adapting lessons to the individual. Students receive a clear roadmap that celebrates progress, encourages curiosity, and turns vocal study into an inspiring, sustainable journey. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, my goal is to help you grow in confidence, discipline, and joy while discovering your own voice.

Online Tutoring Jobs in Leeds Often Get Misunderstood

In Leeds, people tend to make quick decisions about extra work. If something sounds complicated or demanding, it usually gets ruled out early. Online tutoring jobs are a good example of this. Many people dismiss them based on assumptions that feel logical at first, but do not fully reflect how tutoring actually works in everyday life.

Assumption: Online tutoring is only for qualified teachers

This is one of the most common beliefs. People assume that without a teaching qualification, tutoring is not an option for them.
Correction: In reality, most tutoring focuses on subject knowledge rather than teaching titles. Graduates and professionals who studied maths, science, English, economics, or languages already meet what many students need. This is especially true for people connected to University of Leeds or Leeds Beckett University, where many graduates look for work that feels linked to what they studied.

Assumption: Tutoring requires fixed hours every week

Many people in Leeds have changing schedules. Shifts move, deadlines appear, and personal plans change. Fixed commitments can feel risky.
Correction: Online tutoring jobs usually allow tutors to choose their availability. Some keep the same time each week. Others adjust hours depending on workload. This flexibility makes tutoring easier to manage alongside real life, rather than adding pressure.

Assumption: You need a proper home office to tutor online

Shared housing is common in Leeds, especially around student areas. Many people assume online work needs a quiet office space.
Correction: Work from home tutoring jobs rarely need more than a quiet hour, a laptop, and headphones. This makes tutoring realistic even in shared homes across Headingley or Hyde Park, where space is often limited.

Assumption: Tutoring work is unreliable or seasonal

Some people expect tutoring to disappear outside exam periods. They worry about gaps in income.
Correction: Online academic tutoring jobs tend to be steadier than many freelance roles. Students and parents often book regular sessions and prefer consistency. Once a routine is set, it usually stays in place, which helps people plan ahead.

Assumption: Tutoring only involves school students

There is a belief that tutoring stops at GCSE or A level support.
Correction: In Leeds, tutoring demand comes from different age groups. School students, college learners, and adults returning to education all look for help. This keeps tutoring jobs online relevant throughout the year.

Assumption: Tutoring will take over your evenings

People worry that side work slowly replaces personal time.
Correction: Tutoring sessions are clearly defined. They start at a set time and end at a set time. When the session ends, the work ends, which helps people protect their evenings better than many shift based jobs.

Assumption: You are expected to turn tutoring into a full time role

Some side jobs come with pressure to grow quickly. That expectation puts people off.
Correction: Part time online tutoring jobs can stay part time for as long as you want. Full time online tutoring jobs are an option, not a requirement. There is no pressure to scale unless you choose to.
In Leeds, online tutoring works because it quietly corrects these assumptions. It does not promise big changes or fast results. It fits into existing routines and stays flexible enough to handle real life.
