About your tutor
Hello! In May 2023, I graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, United States with degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a minor in Biology. I love learning and helping others to understand science. I am friendly, hard-working, patient, and compassionate. I was an official tutor for my university for one year, helping students in many different Chemistry classes and Calculus I. I developed strong relationships with each student, and I helped them become more passionate for the subject and earn improved grades. I was also a Teacher's Assistant in my high school, helping students in both the comprehension and lab parts of the course. I have now tutored for several months at Wiingy and have really enjoyed my time here. I have tutored Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, General Chemistry 1 and 2, and Microbiology. My favorite subject to teach now is Organic Chemistry, which I never thought I would find myself enjoying as much as I do. Organic is challenging but also super intriguing. The best part about Organic is all the different biological applications, and this is what gets me the most excited about the subject. I love emphasizing this in my tutoring, and I am excited to work with you in either subject (Chemistry or Biology).

Teaching methodology
I offer tutoring sessions for college General Chemistry, college Organic Chemistry, and college Biology courses. When tutoring, I emphasize my strong backgrounds in both math and biology. I ensure the student understands the equations we use, the context we use them, and how to properly apply and manipulate them. I also enjoy providing applications of the material (when possible) to real world examples like biological ones. I focus on what the student's needs and tailor my tutoring to that. I combine useful figures, clear diction, and active participation to help students learn regardless of their learning type (auditory, visual, etc.). I also help students with assignments, homework, and test preparation. I appreciate feedback and am always willing to change my style based on the needs of the student! General Chemistry applies more to what is above, since the main component of the course is problem solving (quantification). Biology relies on clear instruction and organizing a lot of information at once. Organic Chemistry, however, opens a new world of studying. Organic should be treated like a math course. Practice, practice, and more practice is needed. However, rarely any equations are used. Instead, Organic Chemistry problems are more like a puzzle (especially synthesis). Thus, I make sure in both Organic Chemistry courses we focus on 1 Understanding and not just memorizing information and why reactions occur like that 2 Once everything is clear, that is when we do all sorts of problems (as needed)
