About your music teacher

As a seasoned music teacher with a Masters degree, I am Jordan Brockett. Having taught and sang music in multiple languages, genres, and styles, and at varying levels, I am able to provide a student-centered learning experience to meet any need you may have. I have taught everyone from the earliest of beginners to the more intermediate and advanced adults; I have personally sung in genres from folk to pop to rock and roll, and have classical singing background to merge technique with fun. Feel free to bring any singing needs you may have, including pieces you need help with, genres you wish you felt more comfortable in, and skills you wish to build from the ground up. My background allows me to merge classical/operatic singing technique with genres throughout time and the world, and I am knowledgeable in pronunciation in multiple languages. I look forward to joining your musical journey!

Music lessons overview

Singing lessons, for me, are a very personal thing. We singers are sharing a piece of ourselves with our audience, be it large or small. I tutor students of all levels, from those nervous to start, to those seasoned and looking for a little extra knowledge to boost their performance. With the knowledge of state-based standards and IB curriculum in music, I am able to supplement school-based learning of music with at-home, more accessible curriculum that can fit all students. I use garage band on my phone, iPad, and computer to be allow students to record their own music and create it if they wish. I am also a fan of using tuning apps to improve pitch accuracy, allowing for a more true-to-form performance of any piece. I will use videos and voice recordings when helpful, to send home examples or warm-ups that would be helpful to build skill between lessons.
