About the tutor

Hello, my name is Amanda Kline, and I am a passionate music tutor that specializes in teaching how to read music and learn how to play the piano. With a Bachelors degree in Music Education K-12 from Shepherd University (specializing in Instrumental Piano) and a Masters Degree in Technology Education K-12 from Walden University, I bring a unique approach to teaching music and how to play the piano. For the past 22 years of teaching music, I have seen many of my students grow an excitement and hone an enjoyment of playing the piano. My teaching philosophy and style focuses on creating a supportive and encouraging environment where students can explore their musical talents. I use a hands on and demonstrative approach for students to learn how to play the piano, as well as a structured systematic approach for students to learn more about music theory, history, musicians and various genres of piano music. I believe in a personalized lesson plan that is tailored to each student's level and experience, as well as finding success in their learning style and goals. As a twenty-two year experienced piano music teacher for school age students, I focus on an interactive and engaging teaching style with both humor and grace. My methodology is hands-on and practical with playing the piano, while providing a structured and systematic approach to individual student learning. Additionally, I believe in demonstrating techniques to assist students develop creative expression and an overall love for piano music. By evaluating each student's individualized abilities, level, prior knowledge and interests, I create personalized learning and lesson plans to build a solid foundation in both music theory and piano practice. In addition, I incorporate self-reflection on performances to guide the students in learning where they are achieving success and where they need to continue to grow. Additionally, I prioritize technique, expression, and creativity to help students achieve their personalized musical goals. Finally, I believe that each and every student has the potential and ability to play the piano well. With guidance and practice throughout our piano lessons, I know that it is possible for every student to achieve their own musical dreams.
