Though scores are extremely valuable tool in evaluating a person’s collegiate success is, it is not a indicator of true potential. The SAT only evaluates a student’s ability to analyze texts and correctly answer various test questions. After studying and taking the SAT multiple times, I find it difficult to confidently say that my score represents my value and potential.

The SAT does little to judge a persons moral character. Education is a valuable resource able to sway and influence world politics and science. Growing our understanding of the physical world allowed humanity to create electricity among other influential inventions. Creativity is only useful when used as a force of good. Though the SAT values a person’s analytical ability, it cannot judge a person’s past history or moral standings. To value someone’s true potential you must take into account their ability to uniquely solve issues amidst their communities for the benefit of the people around them. A person’s potential should be measured in their effort to enact positive change.

A person’s potential is active; it’s the process of asking questions and knowing how to think about the information given to us. Life is a lesson within itself: it teaches a person how to persevere through the unknown, forcing them to contemplate the world around them critically. The SAT does little to measure a person’s ability to acitively problem solve and only presents them with pre-prepared writing, grammar, and math sections.

Furthermore, Creativity lies in the heart of all successful and influential people. In order to solve the modern problems of today’s word one must be able to come up with unique and original ideas. My goal of becoming a mechanical engineer is rooted in my passion for discovery and creative problem solving. Success as an engineer is not be measured in test taking abilities, but how ideas influence the people around me. Creativity allows humanity to thrive and evolve amidst most impossible circumstances. As our modern world encounters more issues regarding climate change, politics, and other adverse situations, it is critical that humanity is able to think critically and originally about their situation. Our potential relies on our brave and daring ideas success. We cannot fear our failure, but must use our creative instincts and drive to success to help lift humanity out of any dangerous catastrophe.

The SAT is a strong measure of a person’s collegiate potential. It is able to provide a clear window to admissions counselors as to how a person will perform in their classes. Yet, the SATs bounds stop at the most critical and unique aspect of humanity, our creativity and strong moral values to uplift and help one another.
