It is imperative to have a high GPA throughout college. Why? Because college sets the playing field for life. Your GPA grants you the full understanding of subjects at hand, while extracurriculares can distract from the most important thing which is graduation. A high GPA symbolizes mastery in the courses that will teach you the lessons of life.

Extracarriculares are good because they allow you to network and be with your peers. However, they can easily distract you from the main goal. I have hasd friends who became too involved with their extracariculares and lost sight of graduation. I was also one of those peers. I was involved in a fraternity for social networking. Now I have valuable relationships for life but no degree to show for it. They can become a distraction. Sports are fun, fraternities are fun, and student government is fun. However, all of these institutions pale in comparison to the pride of being on the Dean’s List.

The Dean’s List is a veritable part of college life. It is the illustrious group of individuals who exemplify academic excellence. They are the ones who will rececive the most job offers and will achieve great things in life. Having a high GPA prepares you for work assignments and deadlines. The deadlines must be met.
