My Academic Trials and Tribulations

There’s a few things that I did to boost my grade point average. I’m sure that this is a given but the first thing I did was start my assignment when they are given out. I do not like to procrastinate when it comes to work. I know myself and if I do not do something in the moment I will forget about it. Even if I don’t know what I am doing on the assignment, I have time to figure out what I do not understand, rather than figuring it out later and it being too late.
Another big thing that I did that helped keep my grade point average up was submitting every assignment. One zero in the gradebook might not seem like a lot at the moment but it can be the difference between a ninety and an eighty nine.
Taking Advanced Placement classes did a great job of boosting my grade point average. Since, the classes are taken out of 5 points instead of 4, I could earn a B in the class and still earn the 4 points for that class. The advanced placement classes are undoubtedly harder than the regular classes. So, it is important to take advanced placement classes that interest you and are not entirely too difficult. If they are too difficult, then the grade point average boost that you were looking for will just turn into a challenge that you’ll have to deal with for a semester or, even worse, a school year.
One thing that I tried that didn’t work for me was studying for long periods of time. I thought that the longer I studied the better my grades would be but that wasn’t always the case. One class might require more studying than another class, especially if you find a certain subject harder than all the others. What worked the most for me was spending more time studying subjects that didn’t make sense to me and spending less time studying subjects that make sense.
The last thing that I would say is equally as important as the other suggestions is creating relationships with your teachers. I’ve had one situation happen repeatedly. I had a high eighty in a class and I was really close to a ninety. During that year, I said “good morning” and “have a good day” to my teachers when I saw them, I turned in the majority of my assignments on time, and I made sure to be respectful in their classroom. When it came to rounding my grade up to a ninety, I didn’t even have to ask.
Overall, I think the key to maintaining a decent grade point average is putting effort into your education. If you do your work, make relationships with your teachers, and are thoughtful about picking your electives, you are bound to be successful in raising your grade point average.
