I want to earn a masters degree in chemical engineering and secure a job at NASA. I want to work behind the scenes at NASA and do all the work necessary to launch rockets, probes, and satellites. I want to be able to design spacecrafts through my knowledge of building and solving complex equations. A masters degree in chemical engineering achieved through A&M’s engineering school will set me up accordingly to be successful in my future career goals.

During my sophomore year of highschool I had a teacher named Mr. Williamson teach my pre-AP chemistry class. The class was required to graduate from my high school so I took it with no future intentions in the subject. He was one of my favorite teachers, he taught the material in a way that was easy to retain and comprehend and would always joke around with my class. I excelled in the class but thought nothing of it until at the end of the year Mr. Williamson sent me an email suggesting I take AP chemistry. Since I did well in the pre-AP class and AP chemistry had an AP credit I took the class to boost my gpa. I took AP chemistry the following year and had a teacher named Mrs. Kyle. She was older but you could see she still had a passion for teaching so I was excited to start the class. During her class we did hands-on labs, online lab simulations, group projects, and collaborative and independent note taking. Her lessons and the way she talked about chemistry allowed me to come to the realization that I found a interest in the topic and I wanted to learn more. Seeing how chemistry was applied and worked with the outside world and how it wasn’t just atoms and elements we couldn’t see that suddenly sparked my interest in chemistry and chemical engineering. I became interested in chemical engineering because of how it involves using discoveries to find new ways of doing things and new innovations. Every day before I had the chemistry period I would eat lunch in Mrs. Kyle’s room and just talk with her the whole time. I got to know Mrs. Kyle besides her just being my chemistry teacher and she would always support me with anything I would talk to her about. AP chemistry I would say was my hardest class of junior year but Mrs. Kyle would sit down with me and help me no matter if it took her whole lunch. Not only has she helped me but she has reassured me in my dreams of going to competitive colleges and supporting me by writing my letters of recommendation. She has also encouraged me to think that whatever I want to do in life is possible and I can achieve it. She’s the reason I feel confident in studying chemical engineering and without her confidence and support I don’t know where I’d be.
