I am prioritizing a high GPA as a key to my success due to the fact it demonstrates understanding of what I learned in school. My GPA is what I consider as a reflection of my knowledge. If I know more and understand more about what I learn, I can have better conversations with people I know. In most of the classes I am taking, having conversations and demonstrating understanding is a big part of the grade we get. Being able to understand things and know things is one of the greatest goals I have in my life currently. Having a high GPA would also show colleges that I am smart and that I am a dedicated worker. Most students in my school think GPA is just a joke because of my school refusing to fail students until the last quarter. I want to be able to say that I got through school because of my hard work and not the system my school used to determine grades.
I am also prioritizing GPA because I am part of the IB diploma program. This program helps us strengthen our understanding of the world around us, but it also is a lot of work for any student. It consists of college level classes and is good for those of us who like challenging ourselves with our workload. Keeping a high GPA during these classes would prove that I am ready to enter college and take on a bigger workload that will be expected throughout my life and career. To me a high GPA in these classes symbolize that I am ready and well prepared for the workload I will be assigned for the rest of my life.
I like having a high GPA because it is like a representation of all the hard work that I have put into the system. I like keeping it up so other people can see how hard I work, and then see that I am a reliable and hard working student that is ready and willing to take on most any challenge that you throw my way. In the beginning I was bad at keeping my grades in math and Spanish up, but since I started to prioritize my GPA I have both been getting better grades but also have been understanding things better and enjoying the classes a lot more than usual. I find that a high GPA is directly correlated to how well you do in school and how much you understand.
