Some strategies that I used to boost my GPA worked, while others did not. I focused on starting each class off to the right start. It is easier to stay on track to get A’s by starting off the semester with turning in small assignments and quizzes. As I worked to maintain an A in the assignments, I later worked on focusing on trying to not get lower than a B on my tests. I studied hard and was able to maintain an A average in all my classes. By doing this each semester I was able to boost my GPA from nearly C+ average to low A’s.

At first, I tried to study hard, and I believed that I overstudied on some courses. This caused me to do bad on my exams and while most of my time was focused on the testing, I started to miss deadlines for regular assignments. That is why I truly believe that if you focus on those deadlines for assignments, you will not lose points for late assignments and will get full credit for your work. For this I started to work from a personal calendar and made sure to set aside time to study for tests and assignments. This made it much easier for me to make sure I planned all my classwork and study time out for each class. I no longer overstudied and forgot about deadlines that were equally as important. Don’t forget to add some free time in your calendar, to allow yourself a break.

Overall, I also worked with other students that were good in those classes I needed to focus on. They helped me find easier ways to work through complex problems and fully understand the assignments. I recommend working with a study group or having a peer mentor to help with studying and accountability. When you work with a group or have someone to hold you accountable for meeting to study, you are more inclined to prepare and study. Groups will help keep everyone on track and provide various points of view to solving problems or working through the assignments.

Whatever strategy you choose to help you to boost your GPA are really focused on what you feel you need help to improve. If it is organization and time management then get a calendar. If you find that you need extra explanation of an assignment or accountability to study then work with a partner or group. No matter what your situation is, focus on those deadlines for assignments and stay on top of them before it is too late.
