To Study Or To Not Study That Is The Question

My usual approach to facing standardized exams is that I do not study or prepare for it at all. What is even worse is that I do not eat a decent enough meal for breakfast to energize my brain so that I can think properly when taking a strenuous test. I know that isn’t the best approach, and I know that I should’ve done some prep work for it, but as far as I can remember I always passed the standardized exams like the STAAR testing I mostly got a Meets score, which was I was in the margin of doing the minimum score and mastering the topic which was getting the highest score, or on the SAT I got a 1080 (which isn’t the best score but is pretty decent). Even on my first round of TSI testing I got a score that was close to passing. Now that I look back on how I performed, I think I could have done better on the standardized tests. My advice to people who are going to take the standardized tests like STAAR, I would tell them to look back on assignments that they had done, and redo some of the questions that they had answered to make sure that they got down what they needed to, and if possible try and find old STAAR test questions and see if they can answer the questions, and ask your teacher if you have any questions about any of the topics that might be covered. Hopefully, in class they do the timed writings like I had to when I was in elementary school, for me that helped me write down my ideas, and what I wanted to write about, and it made me quicker upon actually writing down my entire essay in the essay box that was provided. For the SAT, I would say find a tutor, a teacher, a program that goes through SAT questions and try and answer the questions that were given, so you might know what might be on the test. Finally for the TSI whether it was for Math or Writing I would say the same thing as I said for the SAT find a tutor, a teacher, or a program that allows you to see a question being answered or you answering a question and trying to gauge what might be on the test. For all of this make sure you get a good night’s sleep, and a good breakfast. When you do not get enough sleep, or a decent meal you do not function properly which can impair how you think and your thoughts can get all jumbled up, and you will not think straight. For any test that you take, always prepare to get a good night’s sleep, eat a decent meal, go to a teacher or tutor if needed, it’s ok to ask for help it doesn’t make you seem like you don’t know anything, sometimes people just need a little help.
