Hello! I am Dr. Shakuntala Das, a passionate tutor with a Doctorate in Economics. My teaching philosophy revolves around making complex economic and financial concepts understandable and relatable to my students. I believe in creating an engaging learning environment where students actively participate in discussions and real-world case studies. With expertise in Economics, Finance, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and Business, I cater to college-level and adult/professional students. I leverage my academic background and practical experience to provide valuable insights and foster critical thinking skills in my students. I am dedicated to helping students succeed by making the lessons exciting and helping them to think outside the box. I provide relevant supplemental materials in the form of e-books, online resources, and past papers to prepare them well for exams and interviews. I include four main types of learning namely visual, auditory, reading/writing and kinesthetic. My teaching approach is catered to meet students' individual needs and learning styles. Additionally, I use group projects to assess teamwork and application of economic principles, and provide video feedback to discuss student analysis and suggest alternative strategies. My goal is to help students master economic principles and excel in their academic and professional endeavors. In an online environment it is essential that we agree on how we are going to create a warm, welcoming, inclusive ,and an open learning environment. I implement virtual reality through sophisticated simulations and games that provide a risk free but challenging environment for engaging students in authentic problem based activities and role playing exercises aimed at developing the skills they need to become successful practitioners. I guide students in connecting the skills practiced during class discussions to their other goals in life such as listening better to friends, disagreeing with loved ones, empathizing with different economic and political views and communicating more clearly.
