About the tutor

Hello! I'm Nathan Sivanithy, a passionate music tutor specializing in piano and violin. With a Grade 8 violin distinction and a lot of experience in music theory, ensembles, and playing in an orchestra, I bring a solid foundation to my teaching. My teaching philosophy revolves around making learning fun and engaging for my students. I believe in personalising lessons to cater to each student's unique learning style and pace. I strive to create a nurturing environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity and express themselves through music. Using a mix of traditional and modern teaching methods, I aim to keep my students motivated and excited about learning. My goal is to instil a love for music in my students that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Teaching methodology

As a Piano and Violin tutor for school students, I believe in a creative, structured, and systematic approach to teaching. My methodology focuses on engaging and interactive lessons that are also demonstrative. By integrating theory and practice, I help students build a solid foundation in both music theory and performance. I provide personalised suggestions for improvement, specialising in technical skills and fostering creativity in performance and composition. I am a strong believer in mastering technique before bow comes to string, so I mainly focus on the structure and adaptations to playing to help the pupil find the right balance for their instrument. From my years of experience, everyone has different techniques based on details such as muscle relaxation, the weight of their bow and size of their fingertips!
