Chehak - Get to know your SAT tutor

Hi! I'm Chehak Khosla, a passionate SAT Math tutor with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. This academic foundation has provided me with a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques that are essential for mastering the SAT math section. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with numerous students, helping them not only improve their math skills but also achieve their personal academic goals. I am deeply passionate about teaching SAT math because I believe that every student has the potential to excel in it with the right guidance and support. My goal is to help students build confidence, improve their scores, and develop a lasting appreciation for the power of mathematics. I love teaching SAT, as it is a critical stepping stone for students who want to get into their dream colleges, and helping them achieve high scores is both a privilege and a responsibility I take very seriously. I am particularly passionate about teaching the math section because it requires more than just rote memorization. To excel in SAT math, students need to develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and an ability to apply concepts to unfamiliar scenarios. This is where I truly enjoy stepping in as a tutor—teaching students how to break down complex problems, think logically, and find efficient solutions. I am excited to be a part of my students’ academic journeys and look forward to helping them achieve their goals on the SAT and beyond. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me! I hope to have the opportunity to work with you and support your success in mastering the SAT math section.

SAT prep snapshot

The SAT exam is a critical stepping stone for students aspiring to get into colleges and universities in the United States, making it a crucial part of their academic journey. Preparing for the SAT, however, can be a challenging process, as it requires students to not only have a strong grasp of the material but also understand how to approach the test strategically. As a tutor, my teaching methodology for the SAT exam involves a well-rounded approach that encompasses subject mastery, time management, strategic problem-solving, and confidence-building. In this 1,000-word guide, I will outline the key components of my teaching methodology for the SAT exam, breaking it down into essential areas like diagnostic assessments, tailored lesson plans, practice exams, feedback loops, and student motivation. I help students familiarize themselves with the common question types that appear in each section of the SAT. In math, for example, this may include word problems, algebraic functions, or geometry-based questions. In the reading section, I teach students how to identify key information, find evidence in the passage, and interpret the author’s tone or purpose. I show students how to keep track of time during the exam and prioritize easier questions first. For math, I emphasize methods like “plugging in” answer choices to check their validity quickly.

SAT concept taught by Chehak

Student learned 5 days ago

The session involved a review of square roots, the Pythagorean theorem, and special right triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90) in preparation for a test. The Student practiced problems related to these concepts, focusing on applying prime factorization, side ratios, and the Pythagorean theorem to find missing lengths and classify triangles. The Tutor provided examples and clarification, and planned to send a worksheet for additional practice on special right triangles.

The Student and Tutor reviewed geometry problems in preparation for an upcoming test, focusing on triangle congruence and properties. The Student practiced applying different congruence theorems and writing geometric proofs. The tutor recommended reviewing previous worksheets as additional preparation.

The Student and Tutor reviewed transformations of quadratic functions, including translations, reflections, and stretches. They worked through examples, identifying transformations from equations and relating them to the vertex form. The Student was encouraged to practice applying these concepts and to resolve registration issues with the Blue Book resource for future SAT preparation.

The Student and Tutor reviewed logic and proofs, conditional statements (converse, inverse, contrapositive), and angle relationships in parallel lines cut by a transversal. The student practiced identifying flawed reasoning, rewriting conditional statements, and finding angle measures. The teacher is out for the week, and the student has a test on the material when they return.

Chehak assisted Tejwant with graphing linear equations and converting equations to slope-intercept form. Tejwant practiced problems from a worksheet, including converting standard form to slope-intercept form and graphing lines using both slope-intercept and point-slope forms. They also worked through word problems, identifying key information to write linear equations.
