Hello! I'm Andrea Jones, a music tutor specialising in piano and saxophone. I am a dynamic and adaptable musician with many years of experience in orchestra and ensemble performances and a skilled saxophone and piano player, adept at writing and arranging music. Received an 'honourable mention' and an award of bespoke mentorship from Improvised Music company's BAN BAM composition award in 2023. I am a graduate from DCU's Bachelor of Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance with tenor saxophone as main instrument with experience performing many reputable events and venues such as Electric Picnic, Button Factory, Bray Jazz Festival and Yamamori Tengu. With a bachelor's degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance, I bring a unique perspective to my teaching. My teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing a love for music while building a strong foundation in piano and saxophone skills. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students of all levels, from school to professional, can thrive. By tailoring my lessons to meet each student's individual needs and goals, I ensure that they stay motivated and inspired throughout their musical journey. I am an engaging and creative piano and saxophone tutor who caters to students of all levels - from school to college, and even adults or professionals. My teaching style is interactive and demonstrative, making sure to tailor learning activities to the student's interests. I use digital music production software to enhance theory and composition lessons. I assess progress through performance evaluations and theory quizzes, preparing my students to shine on stage or pursue music careers. Let's make music learning an exciting journey together! All of my lessons are 55 minutes long. I teach all ages and levels on instruments piano, saxophone and clarinet. I have experience teaching a wide range of ages and levels on various instruments and approach each student in a different way to tailor their needs! I am able to teach classical music other various genres! Including harmony, theory, arranging, and composition. I usually split my lessons into three subjects, instrumental technique, theory and learning new repertoire! I do this to create variety in my lessons and to continuously work on the most important aspects of learning an instrument. If students would like to do exams I am happy to go down that route but it is not a necessity. I have plenty of experience and enjoy preparing students for leaving certificate practical exams and grade exams for the Royal Irish Academy of music and also for live performances/gigs. I bring forth a self motivated attitude and a lifelong love and commitment to music!
