About your tutor
My name is Olivier, and I am proud to introduce myself as a passionate chess instructor and a competitive player who has been on an exciting journey of growth and success in the world of chess. Over the past six months, I’ve made remarkable progress in my personal chess career, gaining over 300 rating points through consistent dedication and effort. This improvement is a testament to the power of structured practice, resilience, and a deep understanding of the game. I am always striving to push my limits and reach new milestones, and I bring the same dedication to every student I teach. In 2024, I had the honor of winning the French National Championship in the Open D section ????, a victory that marked a turning point in my chess journey. Competing at the national level and claiming the championship has not only solidified my standing as a player but also fueled my passion for helping others reach their chess potential. This prestigious achievement adds to my credibility as a coach, and I’m eager to share the lessons I’ve learned through this experience with my students. As a FIDE National Instructor, I have over 10 students who are making consistent and measurable progress. Each one of them has benefited from my personalized approach to coaching, which focuses on building a solid foundation while working on specific areas such as strategy, tactics, openings, and endgames. I take pride in seeing my students improve, whether they are beginners taking their first steps into the chess world or more advanced players looking to refine their skills.

Teaching methodology
My teaching methodology is built around a personalized and student-centered approach, designed to help each player reach their full potential, regardless of their current skill level. I believe that chess is not a one-size-fits-all game, and every player has unique strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, my lessons are tailored specifically to the needs and goals of each individual student. At the core of my methodology is the concept of goal-setting. Together, we define clear, achievable objectives, whether you're aiming to improve your rating, compete in tournaments, or simply deepen your understanding of the game. We then create a customized plan to guide you toward those goals, with structured lessons that progressively build on your existing knowledge. I place a strong emphasis on game analysis. After each game, we conduct in-depth reviews of your moves, focusing on what went right and what can be improved. This allows us to identify patterns in your play, spot recurring mistakes, and reinforce your strengths. I also integrate tactical exercises and strategic lessons to solidify your understanding of key concepts. My approach is highly interactive. I encourage active participation from my students, fostering an environment where you can ask questions, explore alternative ideas, and learn through discussion. Lessons are designed to be engaging, with a mix of theory, practical exercises, and real-game scenarios to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. In summary, my teaching methodology is a blend of personalized coaching, goal-driven learning, detailed game analysis, and interactive engagement. My students experience measurable progress because each lesson is designed with their specific chess journey in mind.
