Supportive and adaptable English tutor with engaging lessons for all levels

I was born and raised in Washington state and have always been intellectually curious. I have studied Mandarin Chinese and French for several years and have spent several months living in China. For university, I studied East Asian Studies and Social Sciences at Columbia University in new York and the Paris Institute of Political Studies in France. I have also done graduate coursework in Anthropology. I have traveled widely, including teaching English in China and India. I have been tutoring native and non-native English speakers in both speaking and academic writing for 10+ years. I have also tutored SAT, geometry, and taught at an English as a Second Language school.

I offer a tailored and holistic approach to assisting students achieve their academic goals while boosting their confidence. At the same time, I prioritize immediate goals like completing assignments and/or earning high marks on tests. I love to help students improve their writing by finding their authentic voices and stories. I offer a safe space for students to ask questions without ridicule. I take feedback from both students and parents in order to tailor sessions to exactly meet students’ needs and bring progress in desired competencies.
