About your tutor

When I was around the age of 16, I heard the band Nirvana and it completely changed my life. Since then, I have been playing guitar both solo and with a band. I formed the band known as SATIN about 5 years ago. Together, the group has written well over 15 songs with 12 currently released, and 7 soon to be released. I play guitar nearly every single day and find it to be an amazing outlet I hope to continue. In terms of music that I listen to, it ranges from a variety of chill session rock to death metal. I am always looking to expand my skills when it comes to playing guitar and feel that no matter your skill level, there will always be room for growth!

Teaching methodology

When taking on a session with me, I find it is always most important to take our time getting things right before rushing to more advanced techniques. I believe that if one has a good understanding of the fundamentals, understanding the guitar becomes easier. Most advanced techniques derive from principles such as fretting, string muting, etc. which should all be learned from the start. I am all about working with the student and helping them to achieve their musical goals, whether it be learning one song, or learning to master the guitar. As someone who plays guitar in a band regularly, I am confident in knowing the role a guitar should play. Playing the guitar is not just about playing fast or loud but also knowing when to play slow or quiet. Along with this comes an understanding of keeping time to either a drummer or metronome. Having these skills will not only improve you as a guitar player but as a musician overall, helping you to have more of a grasp when picking up another related instrument such as a bass guitar.
