About
I am Alejandro Diaz. I currently teach IB Spanish at Jefferson Parish Schools in New Orleans and I am also an IB examiner for History and World Studies. I studied a degree in History by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a Masters degree in Art History and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education by The University Of Buckingham.
During my masters degree I got a scholarship to study in Buenos Aires and I did my research in the National Library Mariano Moreno. My investigation gave me the opportunity to present it in 2 conferences in the Mora Institute and in the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 2016.
My teaching experience began in 2015 where I started as an IB educator, in 2018 I worked at Churchill College Mexico, where I had the opportunity to become the IB Extended Essay Coordinator and guide teachers and students during the process. In 2021 I became an IB examiner. My hobbies include visiting museums, art galleries and traveling. I also enjoy running every day and having a healthy life.

Teaching methodology
From my eight years of teaching experience, I have learned that the perfect class is achieved by creating and maintaining an environment of dialogue and communication between educators and students.
When pupils feel respected, engaged, and comfortable to participate and interact, their learning curve is heightened.
When teaching language class, it is fundamental to make each session interactive using different digital resources such as videos, songs, articles with current topics and images. These tools provide the student context while using the basic skills: of writing, speaking, reading and listening in an SSL class.
As a teacher, organizational skills are paramount to ensure the successful engagement of young learners. One key to becoming a well-organized teacher is to prepare different types of materials with varying levels of difficulty for my classes. This is useful, because not all students are at the same level of learning and understanding. Students must be appropriately challenged. If the material is too difficult, students often shut down. A gradual learning curve is best when teaching language class, allowing students to feel good about themselves while they learn.
Finally, the class structure must be well organized and implemented from the very beginning. In my experience, I have found the Constructivist Method most valuable. Using this method, the class is divided into three stages: Introduction or Icebreaker Activities, Main Activity, and Plenary. This method allows students to self-learn and teach each other while providing sources and materials that are fun, interactive, and challenging. In Conclusion, to achieve the perfect class, preparation, respect, and consistency of classroom structure are needed.
