Teaching methodology
I do an initial consultation with each student: I first get to know you, what subjects you're studying, where you're studying, what grades you're working at, what your plans are after sixth-form, aspirational grades, how you learn best, what topics you struggle with. I then prepare tailored worksheets (typically past paper questions), which hone in on your weak areas, and also account for your current working grades and are up-to-date with the specifications for your exam board. As we work through the worksheets, I will introduce and explain any new concepts + definitions, interwoven with the worksheets. I go beyond the curriculum, to fully explain the underlying principles of why things happen the way they do instead of just accepting it at face value.
I ensure to tailor my teaching methods to suit each student's needs: if you're a good problem solver, I use Socratic questioning (where I probe your understanding of concepts, using questions), or if you need more comprehensive explanations, I use the Feynmann Technique (where I explain things as if you were a 5-year old). We will also go over any mistakes you made in the worksheet and will teach you exam techniques, discussing the best approach for each topical question.
