Class overview
My teaching style focuses on making math easy to understand and enjoyable. I start by figuring out what each student needs help with, then create a plan to improve those areas while building on what they already know. During lessons, I use fun activities, real-life examples, and online tools to keep students interested and help them learn better. I encourage questions and discussions, so students feel comfortable and involved. Overall, my goal is to help students not just do well in math, but to actually like it and feel confident in their abilities.

Mathematics concepts taught by Parveen
The tutor and student reviewed and practiced calculating the areas of triangles and trapezoids. They worked through multiple examples to solidify the understanding of identifying bases and heights for triangles, and bases and heights for trapezoids, applying the respective area formulas. The next session will continue with further practice.
Area of a Triangle
Identifying Base and Height in Triangles
Area of a Trapezoid
Decomposition vs. Formula for Area
The student and tutor practiced factorizing quadratic trinomials, including those with leading coefficients other than one. The session involved solving problems from a worksheet and distinguishing between factorization and finding roots of an equation. The tutor assigned additional practice problems as homework.
Factorizing Trinomials
Solving Equations vs. Factorizing
When Factorization Isn't Possible (with current methods)
The Student and Tutor worked on solving quadratic equations by factoring, covering zero product property, GCF factoring, difference of squares, and the X method for trinomials. The student practiced applying these techniques to a worksheet of problems. There was no specific homework assigned, but continued practice was implied.
Factoring by GCF (Greatest Common Factor)
Solving Equations by Factoring
Zero Product Property
Factoring Trinomials by Splitting the Middle Term (AC Method)
Factoring Trinomials (Coefficient of x² is 1)
Difference of Squares
The tutor and student worked on the concept of the coordinate grid, including identifying and plotting points, understanding axes, and defining quadrants. They practiced these skills through various exercises, including forming geometric shapes, and planned to continue working with graphing concepts in future sessions.

Plotting Points (Ordered Pairs)
Identifying Coordinates
Quadrants and Their Signs
The Tutor and Student reviewed units of length, including inches, feet, and yards, and their conversion factors. They practiced estimating and measuring various objects and discussed the concept of using fewer units for larger measurements. The Student was assigned homework to measure ten objects.

Comparing Units and Relative Size
Estimating Lengths of Common Objects
The student and tutor reviewed the concept of perimeter and practiced calculating it with different units. They then delved into classifying triangles based on their angles and sides, and concluded by working on exercises that combined both classification methods. The tutor also provided instruction on using a protractor to measure angles.
