As someone who has attended 9 different schools in 4 different continents, I have had the opportunity to experience a variety of education systems and meet a diverse array of teachers and students. During my time at these schools, amazing educators have helped me to reach my goals and get to where I am today. I am immensely grateful to these educators; I am in the education industry because I want to support students as my educators have supported me.

Teaching methodology
I tutor elementary, middle school, high school, and college/university English. My goal as a teacher is to make English language and literature education accessible to students of all ages and backgrounds. Paulo Freire’s book, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, shaped my teaching philosophy. In every class that I teach, two of the learning objectives are derived from Freire’s theory. The first is for my students to develop the critical thinking skills to interrogate their lived experiences. The second is for my students to build the confidence and communication skills to share the acquired thoughts with others in a respectful, convincing manner. These are the early steps to empower students to speak their truths and change their lives. As Freire asserts, “to speak a true word is to transform the world” (87).
