Chlorie - Get to know your vocal coach
I am a postgraduate student majoring in Popular Music Performance, with over three years of experience teaching vocal lessons to students of different ages and skill levels, from absolute beginners to learners preparing for performances and auditions. My teaching specialties cover pop, jazz, R&B and musical theatre singing styles. I focus on building solid core vocal foundations first, including pitch accuracy, breath support, vocal placement, tone control and dynamic variation, instead of letting students rely only on imitating singers. I tailor every lesson plan according to each student’s personal goals, voice condition and preferred music genre. Some students want to sing pop and R&B smoothly with relaxed, healthy vocals; some are working on jazz phrasing, swing feel and improvisation; many learners aim to master musical theatre, balancing dramatic expression, projection and vocal safety for long-stage performances. I always remind my students to protect their voices and avoid bad habits that lead to strain. Besides regular technique training, I help students interpret songs, shape musical emotion and build confidence when performing. I have guided students for school shows, singing competitions and musical audition preparations. I enjoy creating a relaxed, encouraging class atmosphere, so students feel comfortable trying new things and sharing their difficulties. Whether you want to learn your favourite pop hits, explore soulful R&B, work on jazz vocal styling or prepare musical theatre repertoire, I will support you to progress steadily and find your unique voice.

Singing concepts taught by Chlorie
The Student and Tutor commenced a singing lesson by assessing the Student's initial vocal performance and identifying areas for improvement, such as rhythm and emotional expression. They subsequently practiced fundamental vocal techniques, including proper breath support exercises, scale practice with a piano app, and an exercise to develop head voice. The Student plans to practice these foundational techniques and utilize a piano app for pitch accuracy.

The Student performed a competition song, after which the Tutor provided feedback on confidence, emotional expression, and specific vocal issues. They then practiced several exercises to improve breath support, tongue relaxation, resonance, and mixed voice, concluding with a review of these practice recommendations.
