Joanie - Get to know your vocal coach
I’m a professional singer, voice coach and performance coach with over 20 years of experience in both teaching and the entertainment industry. I started private voice and piano lessons around the age of 10, and I’ve continued to invest in my own development through private coaching and mentorship throughout my life. I know firsthand how much the right coach can change an artist’s understanding, confidence and ability to perform. Private coaching gave me the tools to understand music more deeply, develop my technique and performance skills, and eventually navigate the professional world as an artist. Group classes and academic schools have played an important role for me, particularly when it comes to connection and collaboration, but one-on-one coaching has always been where I feel an artist can go deepest and make the most targeted progress. That is what I now love bringing to my students. I’ve taught students from 6 to 75 years old, in both schools and private settings, My career has included extensive international touring, live performance and large-scale productions, including several years with Cirque du Soleil, cruise-ship productions, corporate performances and other international projects. As a singer and teacher, I’m particularly interested in helping artists develop not only their voice, but their ability to communicate and perform with confidence. My teaching combines vocal technique with real-world performance experience, including interpretation, stage presence, audition preparation, solving a technical issue, or helping a working singer become more efficient and sustainable with their vocal stamina, ad-libs, riffs and runs, and way more.
