I’m Nesta Malcolm, a Calgary-based music producer, recording engineer, and artist with over 10 years of experience creating music. I work across R&B, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Pop, and Acoustic music, and have developed my skills through both formal audio engineering education and years of hands-on experience producing, recording, mixing, and collaborating with artists. My goal as a tutor is to help you become a better producer—not just teach you how to use a DAW. Whether you’re completely new to music production or already have experience and want to take your music to the next level, I’ll tailor each session to your goals, interests, and current skill level. I can help with music production, songwriting, beat-making, recording, mixing, sound selection, arrangement, music theory, workflow, and developing your own sound. I primarily work in FL Studio and I’m comfortable adapting to different creative workflows. What makes my approach different is that I’ve spent years learning through both experimentation and real-world experience. I understand how overwhelming production can feel, and I want to make the process practical, creative, and enjoyable. Rather than simply showing you which buttons to press, I’ll explain the reasoning behind creative and technical decisions so you can eventually make those decisions confidently on your own.
