Learn Music Production & Songwriting from a Recording Artist & Producer, and Humber Graduate

I'm Katie McBride, a Toronto-based producer, composer, and vocalist with over 15 years of experience making records in my own home studio. My work spans electronic and alt-pop, house, and ambient music, and I've also featured as a vocalist on house tracks. I've released three albums and five EPs, reach around 80,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and have had my music placed on "The Sex Lives of College Girls" and an upcoming H&M commercial. My projects have been funded by FACTOR, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts. I hold a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from Humber College, where I studied trumpet, music production, composition, and film scoring. I have been teaching on and off since 2010. In our sessions, I'll help you build real skills in Ableton Live covering beat-making, arranging, mixing, and finishing a track. I also teach songwriting and composition, so we can work on writing melodies, chord progressions, and lyrics, or on structuring a full piece, alongside the production side. You might be opening a DAW for the first time, or you might be trying to get your mixes to sound professional. Either way, I'll meet you where you are and focus on the music you want to make. You'll leave each session with techniques you can use right away and a clearer sense of your own sound.
