Kat - Get to know your vocal coach
As a seasoned singer and songwriter with over 4 years of experience in teaching vocal lessons and over 20 years of performance singing, I am your go-to mentor for enriching and engaging lessons! My name is Kat Martinez, and together we can work on Folk, Jazz, Country, Pop, and Rock music together. I have previous training in classical singing as well, and I take the tools I learned from my instructors who used to tour Europe and sing classically and apply them to different styles. Vocal health is hugely important to me, and making sure that YOUR sound is what we focus on, not someone else's is also a passion of mine. If you are a beginner, I can help you find your voice, find your vibrato, how to use your diaphragm correctly, and how to use the anatomy of the mouth and throat to work to your advantage, offering peak vocal health execution of your style. If you are advanced, we can work on musicality, style, vocal flips, vocal cries, etc. to add to what you already bring to the table as a singer. I currently teach students 6 to 67, so no matter your age, I'd love to work together and reach your full potential! I don't use many apps or a lot of technology; I am a straight to the point, work with your instrument (your voice) kind of teacher. Although I am not afraid to be blunt with you, there is no room for negativity with me or from me. I am here for YOU, and building you up and bringing you into confidence is my job!

They practiced vocal warm-ups, discussed techniques for vocal health, projection, and control, and explored strategies for developing vocal runs and performance stamina. The Student expressed a strong desire to continue lessons with this Tutor, but will also have a trial with another tutor to compare options and find the best fit for their advanced skill level.
