Take Your Singing to the Next Level with Vocal Lessons Focused on Technique and Performance Skills

My name is Srikant Srinivasan, and I am a certified music educator, vocal coach, and performer. In addition, I am also a songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. My areas of expertise are Jazz, R&B, Pop, Soul, Funk, Rock, Hip Hop, Blues, and other modern styles. A little bit about myself : my musical journey started with piano lessons when I was 5 years old. Over the years, I learned music theory, mainly for jazz, and eventually for classical music. This gave me a strong theoretical and technical foundation for music. I began singing at the age of 8 by listening to my favourite vocalists, and copying their technique and sound. I honed my craft by performing at various clubs and venues in my city for over a decade. With singing, your body is your instrument. Therefore, to achieve the best performance and results, I make sure my students are comfortable and relaxed, first and foremost. Let them know that making mistakes during the lesson is nothing to be ashamed of, and that this is the place to learn, not to be perfect. I build a rapport with them by making conversation, checking in on them, and being genuinely invested in their interests and lives. As for technical skill, I take a portion of every class to focus on music theory and technique. These, I believe, are essential to an artist's success. It is not enough to just replicate a song note for note. As I say to my students : to not understand the theory behind the music, is like reading a sentence out loud perfectly, but not knowing what it means. I have taught for 8+ years, with my students ranging from 5 to 45 years old. Every person has their own way of learning, and my job is to adapt to those needs and instruct in a way that's most comfortable for the student.
