Eray - Get to know your vocal coach
My name is Eray, I am a professionally trained singer and teacher with over 10 years of singing experience and 5 years of professional performance experience. I have performed in choirs, musical theatre, bands and and won vocal competitions, and hold a First Class Degree in Musical Theatre from Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. I have experience teaching a wide range of singing styles and abilities, and my approach is relaxed, fun and encouraging while being strongly technique-focused. I enjoy helping students understand how to use their voice correctly and safely, and unlocking parts of their voice they may not have realised were possible. I work on areas including vocal technique, breathing, pitch, performance, confidence, song interpretation, audition preparation and drama school preparation. I believe every student is different, so I adapt my teaching to their individual goals and needs. I want students to leave every lesson feeling more confident, positive and excited about their singing, while developing healthy vocal habits and a strong understanding of vocal health. Most importantly, I want to help each student recognise their potential and feel proud of their progress!

The Student, a complete beginner, had an introductory singing session with the Tutor to explore singing as a hobby for fun and karaoke. They practiced foundational vocal exercises including posture, breathing, lip rolls, 'ng' sounds, pitch matching, and diction. The session concluded with the Student practicing the chorus of "Sign of the Times" and discussing how to approach different vocal octaves.

Student and Tutor had an introductory singing lesson, discussing the Student's background, goals in gospel music, and the need to fine-tune technique. They practiced fundamental vocal exercises, including posture, controlled breathing, lip trills, sirens, and vowel articulation, then applied a 'lazy belt' technique to a gospel song. The Tutor provided an overview of a potential lesson plan focusing on breath, vocal registers, musicality, and stage presence for future sessions.
