Learn guitar, piano, and voice from a singer-songwriter and Berklee College of Music alumnus!

The Student and Tutor worked on fundamental guitar techniques, including string identification, proper left and right-hand posture, and "stopping a fret" for clear notes. They reviewed basic music theory such as the musical alphabet and fretboard navigation, and practiced the F# major scale pattern. The session concluded with practicing G major and D major chords and transitioning between them, with the Student encouraged to practice the learned materials.

Student and Tutor reviewed major and dominant 7th chords, major scales, and chord structures on the piano, relating them to guitar knowledge. They practiced reading music in both treble and bass clefs, applied scales to guitar and piano, and worked on metronome exercises. The Student was assigned to continue practicing scales and reading exercises on both instruments, and the next session will cover the D major scale.

Student and Tutor focused on foundational guitar skills, including finding notes on the fretboard using half and whole steps, and practicing the E major scale across two octaves. They also worked on learning and transitioning between C major, D major, E minor, and G major chords within a song context. The session introduced the A minor chord, the concept of barre chords, and a universal scale pattern, with follow-up on finding a song for the next lesson.

The Tutor and Student worked on fundamental guitar skills, including reinforcing D major and C major chords, practicing a transferable major scale pattern, and understanding fretboard note identification. They also developed right-hand strumming techniques and explored new chords (E major, A major). The Tutor plans to send scale charts for the Student to practice.

Student and Tutor focused on fundamental guitar techniques, including finger positioning, hand posture, and applying correct fretboard pressure. They practiced the E major, F major, and F# major scales, while simultaneously learning core music theory concepts such as the distinction between keys, scales, and chords, as well as the definitions of sharps, flats, pitch, and tone. The Tutor assigned practice of the F major and F# major scale patterns for the student to work on before their next session.

The Student and Tutor reviewed major scale theory, focusing on chord qualities and Roman numeral notation for guitar. They practiced playing scales with a metronome and explored various chord variations like major 7, sus 2, sus 4, and dominant 7, applying them to chord progressions. The Tutor will provide scale charts and fretboard diagrams for the Student's independent study, and they discussed future session frequency.
