Hi! I'm Cherlyn Lo, a passionate piano tutor with over two years of experience teaching students of different ages and skill levels, from complete beginners taking their very first lesson to more experienced pianists looking to refine their technique. I believe that everyone can learn music with the right guidance, encouragement, and a learning approach that suits their individual needs. I specialise in Classical Piano, but I also have experience teaching Pop and Jazz, allowing students to explore a variety of musical styles based on their interests. My lessons go beyond simply learning how to play pieces—I also help students develop a deeper understanding of music through Chord Theory, Ear Training, Music Theory, Score Analysis, Performance Skills, and effective practice techniques. Building these skills helps students become more confident, independent musicians who can enjoy music for years to come. Having learned the piano myself, I understand that the journey isn't always easy. I've experienced moments of frustration, self-doubt, and feeling stuck, so I know how overwhelming learning an instrument can sometimes feel. What kept me going was the patience, encouragement, and belief my own piano teacher had in me. Their guidance not only helped me grow as a musician but also inspired me to become a teacher myself. Today, I hope to provide that same support and encouragement to my students—to be someone who motivates them to keep going, believe in their abilities, and discover the joy and confidence that music can bring. My greatest reward is seeing my students grow, overcome challenges, and become inspired to achieve goals they once thought were beyond their reach.
