Jack - Know your guitar teacher
My name is Jack MacCallum, a guitar tutor and sound recording diploma student. I specialize in guitar and music theory lessons for beginners and intermeadiate students. I have been playing guitar for over eight years. I have studied with prominent jazz and folk musicians in my area. I am very knowledgable on chords, chord progressions and creating and playing melodies. By trade I am a sound engineer, someone who recordings and produces records, albums and anything that has recorded sound. I record myself and others, creating singles and EPs in many different genres. I will tailor each lesson to the student’s interest. Whether it be acoustic, electric, fingerstyle or strumming, I am happy to cover any aspect of the instrument and music in general. I believe music is deeply personal experience and shouldn’t be a rigid one. Each student is different, has different interests and abilities. I know the importance of having a hood teacher when it comes to the arts. My first music teacher helped me discover my love of music and creating. This changed the trajectory of my life. I now study music and music production and have met many great people through music. My hope is that I can share that experience with others. Let’s start strumming!

Guitar concepts taught by Jack
The Student and Tutor reviewed previously learned guitar chords and practiced chord switching, focusing on the E minor to G transition. They learned and practiced a new chord progression (G, C, D, A minor) and discussed the concept of muting during chord changes to maintain rhythm. The session also included an introduction to basic music theory, covering major/minor chord construction, fretboard logic, and the importance of patterns. The Tutor recommended daily practice and specific YouTube channels for further music theory study.
