About your music teacher
Hi! I’m Joel, a First-Class Creative Music Technology graduate, musician, sound engineer and tutor. I’m a big believer that learning music should be practical, creative and, most importantly, actually enjoyable. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time, trying to understand music technology, or wondering why your mix still doesn’t sound quite right, I’m here to help you figure it out without drowning you in unnecessary jargon. As a Grade 8 vocalist with Distinction and a multi-instrumentalist across guitar, bass, drums, piano and clarinet, I can approach music from a few different angles. I’ve also worked across live events, studio production, sound engineering and music technology, so I enjoy connecting the theory to how things actually work in the real world. I also have experience as a Production Manager, overseeing four technical departments: sound, lighting, visuals and live streaming. This has taught me how to coordinate teams, manage equipment and solve problems under pressure, while keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. It’s given me a strong understanding of how different areas of production work together to create a successful live event. My aim is simple: help you become more confident, curious and creative with music, while having a bit of fun along the way.
