Daphne - Know your guitar teacher

I'm Daphne Krueger, with close to a decade of taking guitar lessons, four years in concert band and year teaching I understand what it takes to make lessons enjoyable for each student. I'm able to teach both acoustic and electric guitar. I focus on personalized learning, figuring out what you would like to learn and using your preferred learning styles. My students and I have worked on chord changes, picking techniques, fretting techniques, music theory, playing solos, fingerstyle, repertoire building and song writing. Styles I'm most familiar with include classic rock, metal, folk, radio pop, jazz and blues. I'm always willing to teach whatever my students would like to learn, whatever you're interested in learning I'm interested in teaching! If you're a beginner just picking up the guitar it's good to start with the fundamentals, but there's no reason to get discouraged, we'll have you playing music in no time. If you're an intermediate guitar player with a couple of experience we'll focus on refining techniques while keeping things challenging with newer and more difficult music or exercises. If you're more experienced I find it best to work on full songs and have us work together so that I can push you to get those things down you haven't quite mastered yet. When I'm teaching guitar the goal is always to have fun and progress in your musical journey.

Student and Tutor continued working on the chorus arpeggio section of "Carry On Wayward Son" on guitar, focusing on specific chord shapes, efficient picking techniques, and smooth transitions. They also discussed fingerpicking methods for school and the rationale behind non-standard guitar tunings. For the next session, the Tutor will provide tabs for the completed song and a new song, "The Middle," and they will begin to incorporate music theory into lessons.

The Student and Tutor practiced the F minor scale in different positions, relating it to the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit." They worked on improving power chord transitions and learned the first half of the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" guitar solo, focusing on techniques like slides and bends. The session also introduced the intro riff of a new song, "Carry On Wayward Son," with an emphasis on alternate picking technique and efficient finger placement. For homework, the Student will receive a handwritten tab for the new song's first part and was advised to practice difficult sections using a metronome and incorporate varied practice.
