Mel - Get to know your vocal coach
As an experienced music teacher and performer currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Audio Production at The New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music, I bring over 4 years of experience helping students build confidence, strengthen technique, and grow as musicians. My passion is teaching singing to kids, beginners, and intermediate learners in a way that feels encouraging, engaging, and personalized. I specialize in Pop, Rock, Metal, Blues, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and contemporary vocal styles, while also supporting students in developing musicianship through Ear Training, Music Theory, Harmony & Counterpoint, Improvisation, and Vocal Agility. My lessons go beyond just learning songs. I love incorporating music history, performance practice, creativity, and music technology to help students become well-rounded musicians. Whether you're preparing for an audition, improving pitch and vocal control, building confidence on stage, or exploring songwriting and production, I tailor every lesson to your goals and learning style. Music should feel exciting, expressive, and personal. My goal is to create a supportive space where students can develop their voice, discover what inspires them, and grow into confident, versatile musicians.

The Student shared their aspiration to sing like Michael Jackson, explaining their profound personal connection to his music. The Tutor guided the Student through vocal warm-ups, including physical stretches and diaphragmatic breathing techniques tailored for asthma, and they began practicing "You Are Not Alone," focusing on emotional lyrical interpretation. Future lessons were planned to explore more Michael Jackson songs, vocal exercises, and stage presence.
